TILT. GIVE COMPETITIVENESS BACK TO COMPANIES THANKS TO DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES
The level of competitiveness of a nation can be measured by its ability to use frontier technologies, to understand their use and to address new business models that are born from new digital tools. There is no use in hiding that according to statistics, Italy is at the bottom of the charts when talking about knowledge, use and promotion of vanguard digital solutions. The awareness of the necessity to fill this gap of knowledge, technological abilities and go-to market, and the willing to support entrepreneurs to help them dream again, gave life to TILT project.
Under to guide of Michele Balbi, President of Teorema – one of the reference players of digital technology in Italy – and Stefano Casaleggi, General Director of Area Science Park – a national entity of research and innovation – who has a visionary interpretation of the collaboration principles between public and private, TILT was born. The perfect bond between complementary and symbolic worlds. A real think thank to transfer competences to entrepreneurs, public and private managers, influencers. Its activity operates in technological talents world to offer visibility and growth opportunity to startups and innovative companies, at national and international level.
This venture, started in Trieste in 2016 as a Digital Hub (supported by the Municipality of Trieste and the Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, by Università degli Studi di Trieste and by Microsoft Italia), immediately became of national interest, generating a startup selection coming from all Italy, thanks to Area Park Science and Teorema. But they realized from the start that TILT had to promote and be a link between the world of solid companies and the new digital technologies.
For this, Area Science Park and Teorema started a growth path toward the realization of an initiative that addresses full time knowledge transfer and open innovation topics linked to the emerging technologies.
TILT wants to do it by:
- supporting Italian companies in understanding digital technologies, an essential element for the national and international competitivity;
- ensuring the reconversion of professional figures destined to be substituted by new technologies;
- attracting interest of public managers on the necessity to invest digital competences oriented to an evolution of citizen services and companies.
We realized that our real task was to act like a promoter, not an incubator, by supporting the connection processes between the business world and new digital technologies.
A critical view of technology as a tool to access to new markets and clients is necessary, to realize new solutions that extend the products of our tradition with digital services.
